The West Village Chorale is not just a choir—we are a community, together with our friends and supporters. As we begin our 2025-26 season, in addition to our usual preparations for our upcoming concerts, our community has another task ahead of us—to celebrate the life of our dear friend Ed Shiner, who passed away on July 13th.
Over his thirty-plus years in the WVC, Ed was a literal pillar of our group, serving on the board for most of those years, holding every office at one point or another, welcoming many new members into the Chorale as our audition coordinator, and shepherding singers around the world as the organizer of our concert tours. A familiar presence at our Summer Sings and other events, Ed was also an ambassador to the NYC choral community.
We could not as an organization be where we are today, celebrating more than a half-century of making music together, without the years of dedication and guidance from our dear friend Ed.
To celebrate Ed's life, we are partnering with Lebanese American University, for which he spent twenty years as Director of Alumni Relations, to host an evening of music and memories on Friday, October 17th at 7pm at our West Village home, Judson Memorial Church.
