Small Plates Choreography Festival is a dance performance series that advances the work of dance makers. Each year, we produce curated showcase-style performances in several cities and create an interface between dance makers and their audiences, offering opportunities for dialogue and meaningful performing arts experiences. We expand the conversation through our podcast, The Dance Maker, which highlights the creative processes and stories behind the dances we present.
Small Plates NYC is a curated collection of dance work by artists at every stage of their careers, bringing together a wide range of artistic perspectives, inspirations, and styles. Selected by a panel of dance professionals, this performance features artists from New York City and from as far away as Baltimore, MD; Boston, MA; Buffalo, NY; Charlotte, NC; Columbus, OH; Fort Washington, PA; Houston, TX; Miami, FL; Monroe, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; Pittsburgh, PA; Purchase, NY; Raleigh, NC; San Francisco, CA; Washington, DC; Whitewater, WI; Winchester, VA; and Yonkers, NY.
Small Plates Choreography Festival was founded in 2012 by Beth McKee Elliott to create meaningful performance opportunities for choreographers and dancers and to cultivate a vibrant interface between movement artists and their audiences. The festival provides a venue for presenting short dance works to a shared audience, building community through performance, dialogue, and professional networking.

Join A hands-on studio session built around the twelve drivers of creative process from Alexandra Beller's new book, The Anatomy of Art: Unlocking the Creative Process for Theater and Dance (Bloomsbury, 2026). Part discussion, part studio work, the class moves through several of the book's core questions — the kind built to be run in a room, not just read — opening fresh entry points into how work actually gets made. Grounded in Beller's decades as a choreographer, performer (Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company), and movement educator, this is for choreographers and performers thinking about their own process, and just as welcoming to anyone curious about creative process itself. Copies of the book will be available to purchase and sign.
Alexandra will also be available before Saturday’s performance to sell and sign copies of her book as well.
