BUT NOW YOU MUST PUT ASIDE ALL SUCH THINGS AS THESE is the first of a collection of participatory performances to be carried out through the end of 2027. Using Black American turns of phrase as choreographic prompts, Ime Soul invites a timely intervention into Black cultural dialogues by closing the space between spectator and spectacle making. In this work, we attend Service: a wedding, a memorial, a revival, a shower, an exorcism, and on, and on.
