Talking about sin ... what a lovely way to spend Mother's Day! Our timing is impeccable, no? Well, many people of faith today don't like to hear about sin, for a variety of reasons, but sometimes because that word has been weaponized against them. We're going to discuss that, and we're also going to look at conceptions and functions of sin in the religion of Jesus and other faith traditions that maye have enduring relevantce today. In addition to reviewing this week’s reading packet, consider the meaning and implications of these words that Marc heard preached in The Church of St. Joseph in Greenwich Village 25 years ago: Worry less than you do about the red hot sins, and worry more than you do about the cold, dark ones.
