June 17 - "The Frozen River" by Ariel Lawhon

"The Frozen River" is an historical novel based on the diaries of a real 18th century midwife Martha Ballard.  It blends a story of her work as a midwife with a murder mystery. The novel provides an interesting picture of Maine in the late 18th century.
