WVC 2018 Winter Concert:

Darkness and Light

The West Village Chorale's Winter 2018 Concert, "Darkness and Light" is Sunday, March 11th at 5pm, and tickets are available now!

Join us for this program exploring the spiritual dynamics between light and darkness, joy and sorrow, triumph and loss, through two contemporary works for chorus and orchestra.

Scottish composer James MacMillan's deeply personal Seven Last Words from the Cross weaves the spare and meditative with the soaring and complex in an emotional journey toward calm and acceptance.  In Lux Aeterna, Morton Lauridsen’s lush setting of sacred texts, the prominent American composer seamlessly integrates Renasisance polyphony and Romantic lyricism with the unique tensions of his modern chord structures to create a lumious, ultimately optimistic work known to bring audiences to tears. Complementing these two different works, we offer Samuel Barber’s moving and much-loved Adagio for Strings.

In all: a balm for the soul in troubled times like these.

Please join us for this beautiful evening of music!
