a Special Magic Time happening, featuring a performance of
Winter Miller's Spare Rib
8pm (doors open at 7:30pm)
Wine reception to precede and follow.
As part of its 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Clergy Consultative Service, Judson Memorial Church - New York City presents a reading of the play Spare Rib by Winter Miller at 8pm on May 20, 2017.
This “abortion extravaganza,” marks the first time the entire play is read before the public, directed by Mikhael Tara Garver. The New Yorker says “Spare Rib is a non-Aristotelian, nonlinear, quasi-comic drama about abortion.”
The evening will raise funds for the National Network of Abortion Funders’ Dr. Willie Parker Fund, which helps support Southerners to get access to safe affordable and compassionate abortions in Alabama and Georgia. Dr. Willie Parker, a feminist Christian abortion provider will be on hand to sign copies of his book, Life’s Work: A Moral Argument for Choice.
Casting is not yet announced for the event, but will feature a special performance by cabaret superstar and Grammy winner Lady Rizo.
Tickets available at the door for a suggested donation of $20 (no one turned away for lack of funds)
