Judson is a leading edge organization with an innovative stance on what it means to steward a sacred site in partnership with the local community. Most people know of a cool church somewhere that offers their space as well as hosts social programs. This commonly understood conception applied to Judson can disguise just how forward thinking the work and scale of activity within landmark location is. Here we intentionally test the limits of traditional architecture against it’s tendency to confine itself and limit the public's imagination for it’s use. As the facility reaches a critical juncture in the lifespan of it’s key infrastructure, along with ever increasing demands on accessibility, we’re excited to share a model that is both credible to secular interests and inspiring to religious ones. Supporting Judson’s capital campaign sends a message of incentive to organizational leaders and urban planners everywhere that open and active sacred sites can leverage a vision for use that serves to cohere the shared concerns and vibrant expressions of a community and it’s valued locations.
