Moral, Spiritual, Psychological, Financial, Legal – and sometimes Physical.

You may be a patriotic American. One who loves the land, its Constitution, and its great histories so much that you want the chance to be faithful to it. The laws now harming immigrants are hardly our best laws. They rest on the flimsiest of self-protections of those already here against those just coming. Patriotism, oddly, is one of the strongest reasons to disobey laws that need to be changed, and will be changed when we come to our senses. Sanctuary is a strategy we choose driven both by patriotism and the decisive compassion cultivated through Christian practice. No one is a stranger or a foreigner to God.  If we think so, our God is too small.

Ravi Ragbir, the Executive Director of the New Sanctuary Coalition, has had an immigration case for many years. Because of his status, Ravi is required to regularly check-in at ICE offices. Ravi’s next check-in is on Thursday, March 9th at 10:00 a.m. The President has made it clear that people like Ravi are priorities for deportation. We want to make sure that when Ravi checks in Thursday, March 9th, he returns to his family and to the community he has fought for. Meet us at 26 Federal Plaza on Thursday, March 9th, at 9:00 a.m to accompany Ravi. Please RSVP to Rhiya, at rst314@nyu.edu or 347-235-9410. Please also consider signing the petition of support.

NEW SANCTUARY COALITION NYC

As a co-founder of the NSC Judson's in-house partner keeps us especially close to the moral and legal fight for just treatment of immigrants. While this has always kept our spaces bustling with activist, clergy, legal professionals, volunteers, and those receiving assistance- the recent shift in our national political climate has resulted in a disheartening expansion of this work under a renewed sense of fear and urgency. Not only are we seeing more families and individuals in need of support, but we're facing real and immediate concern for those who have been providing this support.

YOU CAN HELP

NSC is always looking for people with foreign language skills (esp. Spanish), legal experience (attorneys, paralegals), and writing skills. Please fill out the form below if you'd like to volunteer.
