Interculturalism: Monday, October 3, 2011
At 7:00 pm at Judson's offices at 239 Thompson St., we will resume Judson Academy for the 2011-12 year with David Blythe and Lisa Cohen on living in multi-cultural communities.
Our session will be an introduction to thinking about intercultural issues and how each of us is shaped by and influenced by our own cultural backgrounds. We will introduce frameworks to help participants think about cultural differences in a new way and help recognize how you react and how you can react differently when encountering people of other cultures.

Previous Lectures
Living in the Overlap
Monday, April 18th, 2011, 7pm
Assembly Hall (enter at 239 Thompson Street)
Led by Rev. Michael Ellick, the Community Ministers, and You.
In honor of Judson's Minister Emeritus Rev. Howard Moody, and in celebration of his 90th Birthday, on April 18th, 2011, the Judson Academy for Open Thinking will host a presentation and community discussion on Rev. Moody's 2008 paper that has sparked conversations all over the country about the state of the church and its future...
In Living in the Overlap: What Personal Belief and the Church Might Look Like in the Postmodern World, Howard contends that many of today’s churches and their congregants are worshiping theologically and liturgically in a bygone era, “consciously or otherwise.”
He explains: “Religious people may be medievalist on Sunday, modernist at work on Monday, and postmodernist in quantum physics class on Wednesday. This is what I mean by Living in the Overlap: the modern and postmodern ages coexist, and some of us live with one foot in each age.”
