Judson Arts Wed

JUDSON ARTS WEDNESDAYS

Judson Arts Wednesdays (JAW) is the completely free, completely queer, creative arm of Judson Memorial Church, a sacred and profane place that has showcased uncensored artists and their work for decades.

Started in the fall of 2009, just after several U.S. banks were bailed out by our Federal Government, JAW was designed to serve those in need of a human bailout, whether that be in the form of free food, free art, or just free company in a free space. Every JAW evening offers all three.

Now, years later, every first, second, and third (and sometimes even the fourth and fifth) Wednesday of each month features emerging artists doing what they do best, surrounded by an audience (some of whom they’ve met and most of whom they haven’t) hoping for the best. The art is often raw and unready and the vibe is inclusive and constructively critical.

Doors always open at 55 Washington Square South at 7:15pm and the show always starts at 8pm. And there’s always food and drink thrown in.
