Hey Kids! Need more art-making in your life? Join us for Judson Sunday Arts! Where kids of all ages can make art that matters.

Education, Not Indoctrination.

THINK – it’s not a word usually associated with Sunday School, where BELIEF is more the order of the day. And yet, if learning to think for oneself is critical to educational growth, why should religious education be any different? Judson Sunday School IS different. Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, we are black, white, gay, straight, religious and ridiculously irreligious. We offer a progressive education with an emphasis on the great themes found within religion, such as love, justice, peace and forgiveness, where the truth within a story is more important than the truth of a story. Judson Sunday School – not your parents’ Sunday School. Think about it.

Sunday School is during service every week at 11a.m. Bring your brood to 239 Thompson St. and helpful people are standing by.

YOUNG ADULTS

sonik youth banner.jpg

Sonic Youth provides an open space where Judson’s younger adult voices are heard, listened to, and shaped. It’s sometimes on Sunday mornings and sometimes in the evening, based on what our group is thinking about on any given week. We meet up just to chat, and we meet up to serve in soup kitchens, and we meet up to see art together, and we figure it out as we go along. Some of our youth are in middle school, some are in high school, and at least two of us are “older” “adults” along for the ride. We rarely talk explicitly about “God,” but we are obsessed with ethics, creativity, and justice, so you could say we’re basically obsessed with “God,” even when we don’t often say the word.

JUDSON KIDS AT WORK

THE GRAND POOBAH

Judson Sunday School’s dynamo staff is led by Andy Frantz, our Sunday School Director (better known as the Grand Poobah) of 20 years and counting. Judson Sunday School provides classes for preschool through high school students. Andy is currently aided by six teachers, a couple of whom are former Judson kids themselves, now all grown up. We are also fortunate to have the support of a wonderful Sunday School committee whose membership is open to all parents.

THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

Or whoever could possibly responsibly watch them for a week... or three.
